Westfarms Mall Uses New Digital Signage Kiosk Solution To Enhance Visitor Experiences While Giving Advertisers A New Way To Engage Target Audiences

Westfarms Mall, a Taubman Realty Group property, has long been known as Connecticut’s premier luxury shopping mall. Located in Farmington, the mall welcomes over 15 million visitors per year, and features more than 40 luxury retailers exclusive to the market, including Nordstrom, Louis Vuitton, Tiffany’s and The North Face.
 

The typical shopper at Westfarms is educated, affluent and fashion-conscious. Taubman Realty Group owns, manages and/or leases 27 regional, super- regional and outlet shopping centers in the U.S. and Asia. Taubman malls have set the industry standard for design and productivity for more than six decades.

CHALLENGE

In the summer of 2018, Westfarms began seeking a messaging solution that could better engage and educate their visitors while offering additional marketing opportunities to both mall tenants and non-competing companies who sought to capture the Westfarms visitor demographic and purchasing power. The mall’s Marketing and Sponsorship Director, Ray Lamoureux, had identified his desired messaging objectives, but needed to find a technical solution that could meet these objectives, and a company that could design, implement and support this solution. Lamoureaux had been aware that one of his largest mall partners, Hartford HealthCare, had been using Quast Media in Manchester, CT for many years in support of their network of more than 200 screens, including those featured at Westfarms.

SOLUTION

Quast Media has a strong history of working with clients to determine, develop and deliver customized messaging through digital technologies. Once the project objectives had been discussed and understood, the Quast Media team began collaborating with Westfarms and the result was a unique double-sided kiosk signage solution to meet this challenge. Installed in November 2018, this network of six (6) kiosk units placed at strategic locations throughout the mall enabled Westfarms to provide a new and exciting messaging medium to enhance and support their marketing objectives.

RESULTS

The new network of kiosks proved to be both a marketing and financial success for Westfarms. Six months after the November 2018 launch, the concept had proven itself so successfully that Taubman Realty Group decided to further develop the network by having Quast Media install the double-sided kiosks at two additional malls -- Cherry Creek Shopping Center in Denver, CO and The Mall at Green Hills in Nashville, TN.
